I have had a tough time with all the travel for work so I am taking a vacation and won’t be posting until I get back in mid July. I’ve been living out of a suitcase for two weeks and now I need time to decompress.
In the meantime, if you need something to read I would suggest some of the books I am reading now in order of recommended priority.
The Retirement Savings Time Bomb Ticks Louder by Ed Slot
Ed Slot has a new updated book on all things retirement and I’m halfway through the book and I love it. There is lots of useful actionable information in this book especially if you are approaching retirement or are in retirement and have to deal with the tax man. I will write a review at some point but I already know I am going to highly recommend it. You can find the book on Amazon or at Ed’s site www.irahelp.com
Nomad Capitalist: How to Reclaim Your Freedom with Offshore Bank Accounts, Dual Citizenship, Foreign Companies and Overseas Investments by Andrew Henderson
This book was written in 2018 but it has very useful information. I’ve only read the first couple of chapters but I’m hooked. The book is entertaining, funny, witty and informative. My biggest issue right now is taxation and this book seems to be hitting that tax nerve perfectly. I will write a book review later but I highly recommend the book to anyone that is thinking about retiring overseas. Ironically, this book contains a great deal of information that I’ve discovered as I’ve begun my retirement journey such as ruling out Spain as a retirement spot due to high taxes.
The Culture Map by Erin Meyer
I started reading this book because my son is now living in Europe and he’s told me stories about how work culture there is different than in the United States. Over the years I’ve noticed this too as more work is outsourced to different countries and I wish this book had been around 20 years ago. My wife and I are planning on retiring overseas so we wanted to know what we might expect from different places around the world. This book dives right into the topic of how different cultures around the world work and live. I will be writing a review on this book later but if you plan on building a career in a multi-polar, international world, I would recommend this book for any would be international executive.
The Psychology of Money: Timeless lessons on wealth, greed, and happiness by Morgan Housel
I started this book then got distracted with other books but I like what I read in this book. Review will be forthcoming.
The Laws of Wealth: Psychology and the secret to investing success by Doctor Daniel Crosby
Another great book that I started and liked but got distracted. Review will be forthcoming.
