I have now been on Zepbound for 9 months and I’ve lost 26.4 lbs so it’s like giving birth to one heavy baby!
I wanted to wait till a full year before I published this chart but I am publishing it now for a few reasons. First the chart:
I started this journey at 305 lbs and I am now at 278.4 lbs. My health is way better and it’s not just Zepbound, it’s a variety of things I’ve done to improve my health.
As you can see from the chart, my weight loss stops and I have weight gain whenever I travel either for work or vacation. Despite taking the medication with me, the core issue is not having full control of my meals and how they are prepared and cooked. I have no idea if the meal I am having is loaded with hidden sugar or other ingredients that I tightly control when I’m eating at home. I also indulge in deserts when traveling because why not?
You may notice that starting October 3 on the chart, I am off Zepbound. It turns out that if you need to do a colonoscopy, you are required to be off Zepbound for two week before the procedure. Ironically, I have continued to lose weight since I’ve been off Zepbound for two weeks despite being hungrier and eating more. I think the key is that I was given very specific foods to eat or not eat five days before my procedure so I’ve been limiting my foods. I was worried about plateauing but I’m still losing weight even without the medicine.
It has made me consider switching my diet to a more protein-centric diet since this is what I’ve been on for the five days before the procedure.
I will be testing the whole travel theory because I will be traveling considerably in November and December for the holidays. I will actually be spending most of December in Europe so I am concerned about weight gain but I will hopefully continue to take the medication.
I may also increase the dosage from 5 mg to 7.5 mg if I do gain weight or do indeed plateau by the end of the year which is why I wanted to publish the chart. In effect, this is the 5 mg chart and I want to track any changes if the dosage changes.
One important thing I learned was that while the day to day weight may go up or down, over the long term the trend is to go down. I’m telling you this so you don’t get discouraged that the drug isn’t working if you have a weight gain of a pound or two. It’s also important to watch what you eat because taking the drug and eating ice cream or junk food all day isn’t going to move the needle in the direction you want.
