As I’ve gotten older, I seem to be in need for more frequent changes of glasses. First it was “readers” then my eyes went out of whack so now I wear bi-focals. But lately, my eyes seem to change every six months instead of annually.
Because I go through glasses like tissues I had to find a cheap place to source them. I once got a pair of glasses at the doc’s office and that was an expensive mistake, $1200. The glasses were ultra thin flexible metal and were totally awesome, I couldn’t feel them on my face when I wore them and that was the mistake, they fell off when I went for a jog in the park and I could never find them again.
I then stepped “down” to Costco for glasses and though they had a pretty good deal especially when they had those coupon books and glasses were on sale. But even Costco couldn’t compete with the next place.
The best place I have found online is EyeBuyDirect.com. I haven’t been able to find cheaper glasses online anywhere. I just ordered TWO (yes 1+1=2) pairs of glasses with various “features” for $80.
One set is dedicated computer glasses and the other set are bi-focals for everything else.
Danger?
I spoke to my eye doc about why I didn’t want to get his expensive glasses and he understood and was at least honest to say that they all mostly come from China although a few models come from Italy.
The danger is that all glasses seem to come from outside the U.S. and the new administration seems hell bent on slapping tariffs on everything in sight.
I’ve been stocking up on stuff like electronics, and now eyeglasses and some pharmaceuticals because prices may quickly spiral out of control.
