I have now completed six months on Zepbound. Initial results the first 6 months were great, I lost 21.2 lbs. In July, I had to travel for work then vacation and while I still kept taking the medication, I had little control over my food/dining environment so my weight loss slowed. Staying in hotels with no kitchen limits my ability to go buy groceries and cook my meals so I was eating out a great deal and didn’t lose as much weight as I had been trending before all the travel.
Gut Bio-Dome
I wrote a post yesterday about Tiny Health and How I’m Conquering Inflammation & Back Pain. I am thrilled with the results and Tiny Health will be a permanent part of my new parallel medical ecosystem. The combination of Zebound weight loss and my new supplements program have me feeling a whole lot better day to day.
Cardboard Effect Gone
When I started taking Zepbound, the initial few months all food tasted bland and like cardboard but now I have regained the taste & flavor of food however I’m not gorging myself on food like I might have been without the drug. Snacking has been kept down to a minimum and I continue to focus on three key food meal types: beans, soups, and protein.
Most of the time, the food I eat fits in a one cup serving bowl and I feel “full” after eating that cup of food.
Body Changes – Loose Clothing
The biggest impact for me right now is my clothing is all loose now. My pants have at least an inch or two of extra wiggle room. I’ve gone down one size in shirts so I “swim” in old T-shirts or dress shirts now. People have noticed my weight loss and comment that I look far thinner than before.
Dreading August
My wife and I are going on a long vacation for August and I’m excited about our upcoming travels but dreading the loss of control of food and cooking. I will be at the mercy of restaurants for most of August and I am worried about how much weight I will gain but I will be taking my medication with me so I hope that helps.
Cost
I’ve lost track of the cost but I will re-calculate it for my next post in August. I definitely know I’ve spent $550+$325+$200 = $1075 out of pocket for the medicine. That’s with insurance. My last batch of 90 day supply billed the insurance company $2843 so it’s definitely an expensive drug.
Is it worth it? Absolutely, there is no way to know what kind of future medical problems all of my weight loss is preventing such as diabetes, heart issues, cancers, etc but my quality of life has already improved and will likely keep getting better over the next 6 months.
