I watched Apple’s WWDC and I thought it was a huge flop. The only redeeming part of the program was the “Apple Intelligence” but that’s a huge problem for Apple because they seem to be entirely dependent now on OpenAI and other AI players for “innovation” because Apple has none.
The “new” stuff apple debuted were nothing more than gimmicks about customizing home screens or trivial data pauses or changes. The exciting stuff was at the end with the Artificial Intelligence but even then, it all seemed very limited with many qualified suggestions that more would be coming soon later.
It’s a sad day for me because I was a big apple products fan but as time progresses they just seem to be lagging. I think a large part of the problem with Apple are all the gray haired people leading the company to a literal nursing home with their snooze fest.
Sorry Apple, you gotta do better and innovate more on your own. You can watch the slow motion disaster here but I would suggest you skip to the good stuff at the 1:04.30 mark.
What Apple Did Right
What I did like about Apple’s program is the continued commitment to privacy and since that is my #1 priority with online services, I will continue to be an Apple customer and probably buy a new iPhone this year and maybe a mac mini but if Apple ever wavers on privacy, I’ll likely be out.
